If i am understanding it properly , you are asking the definition of software Testing and its tools
Software Testing : where in you test the code/logic/functionality
Tools: Junit test is nice tool for a developer

I would say that software testing is an investigation done by a person against a software product with the intention to find software bugs, errors and risks. A tester thinking should be totally different than a developer thinking. The tester should think in a destructive way, while a dev is thinking in constructive way. It's pure testing psychology.

I would argue that a developer should think both constructively and destructively; after all, that's how you build software while being good at avoiding bugs in the first place.

Testing measures the quality of a developed software application, is oriented to Defect Detection
