1) pointers not supported in java
2) No Multiple inheritence ----Java uses interface to achieve multiple inheritence
3) No destructors in java. Garbage collection uses finalize method before reclaiming space occupied by an unreachable object
4) no structures or unions in java
5) Java always uses Pass by value ( even if a reference is supplied, reference is copied to the calling method).

java needs JVM , C++ does not
C++ Write once, compile anywhere (WOCA),Java Write once, run anywhere / everywhere (WORA / WORE)
C++ Allows direct calls to native system libraries,Java Call through the Java Native Interface and recently Java Native Access
