Objects of class that implements Serializable can only be serialized. Class declaration must include this interface, though there is no method which have to be implemented.

You can convert any object to Data using NSKeyedArchiver or NSKeyedUnArchiver
they extend NSCoder class

That's in Java. Who knows what language this question was referring to. Probably Objective-C.
