If the process has been compiled with debug information then the by GDB we can find the stack trace which revel the required information.

i think it all depends upon what tools that you use to parse the given dump .. and also what tools that you use to get the crash dump .

Whether or not it's theoretically possible can't possibly depend on whether you have the tools to parse the dump or not -- if they really are just dump-parsing tools, you could always write the tools if you don't have them. I interpret this question to be coming from a theoretical perspective as to whether the necessary information is present in the dump or not.

add2line utility will fetch you a line number in a given crash file

There is a __LINE__ option that you can use in C/C++ to print the index of line within the program error termination / or error reported in your program.

This option has been used to print the line in error log. Not in gdb

Cisco gives hike once in 2-3 years.

New-Joinees only get hike after 2-3 years, so take 100% hike at the time of joining .. . otherwise don't cry after joining. :)
