FlexTrade Interview Question
Software Engineer / DevelopersA core dump is a file that contains the state of a program (stack pointer, PC, registers, memory) at a specific time, usually just before a crash. It is used to see what was going on in the program before the error occurred to help debug it. A process dumps core when it is terminated by the OS due to some fault (so the OS generates it). These faults include dereferencing invalid or null pointers, accessing protected areas of memory, writing off the end of an array or stack overflows.
