S1 is linear. S2 is geometric. They intersect on July.
S1 = n + bx // x is months ahead
S2 = nr^x

x=6 // 6 months forward

n + 6b = nr^6
1 + 63 = r^6
64 = r^6
64^(1/2*1/3) = r
8^1/3 = r
2 = r.

r=2.

Between January 1, 2007 and July 2, 2007 you increase the number of employees 6 times.

Therefore:
For S1 you have n+10.5n*6=64n
For S2 you have n*r^6=64n (r at power 6). 2^6=64 so r=2.
