iChat (formerly iChat AV) is an instant messaging software application by Apple Inc. for their Mac OS X operating system. It has audio, video and screen-sharing capabilities as well as text messaging. --- taken from wiki

iChat could improve synchronization of all conversation between multiple devices a user owns. Apple ID can be used to unify other services like AIM into one and keep all conversations saved so that the next time another computer signs in with it, all the queued conversation can be downloaded to it.
