After an elapsed period, the interviewer told me it wasn't possible to do using basic geometry, supplementary angles, sum of angles in triangle, etc. They tried to give me a hint by asking, "does the angle x have a 'definite value'? That is, is it variable?" This wasn't a helpful hint, other than complicating the problem.

if the two line segments are given, then cos of the angle between them, will be the ratio of the two line segments.

Sorry for the previous comment. That was not correct, given two line segments, we can calculate the angle between them using the slopes of these, line segments. the formula will be tan (theta) = |m1-m2/(1+m1m2)|
