Sounds like 6.
300secs are needed with one processor, so 40% of that which is 120 secs can't be parallelized. We can only parallelize 180 secs. So if 'x' processors are working then total time = 120+180/x = 150 ==> x = 6.

To me sounds like 7.

Because the sequential 120s is also done by a processor and it has to be different from those involved in the paralel tasks.

use amdahl's law. The answer is 6 processors.
speedup = 1 / ( .4 + .6/p), and we're given that speed-up is equal to 2.
