Only in case of making a destructor virtual shall make you re-complile all the files ( if none of the destructor in the higher hirarchy was virtual ).

Because making a destructor virtual has a cascading effect of making all the derived class destructors also virtual.

I think we may need to recompile when we add a data member also..since it will change the memory corresponding to each object pointing to..
