linux supports both semaphores and spinlock.
Semaphore can sleep and spinlock cannot. So semaphore cannot be held in interrupt context.

Process descriptor stored in task_struct which will be stored in higher address as per the kernel configuration. Usually 3-4 in kernel address. And it will not be shared between process
