You can probably start out with the smallest flow [s1, s2] from the coffee machine. You would then compare the differences of [c1,c2] with [s1, s2], [m1, m2], [l1, l2]. Then, you could see that if the differences were negative i.e l1 > c1 or l2 > c2, it might overflow, so you wouldn't choose that particular intake flow. Like this, you can calibrate and choose the particular range (small, medium, or large) and still filling the cup.
