Create a multimap of <time_t(in secs),logcnt> in one of the machine say X.
Every time a log is generated a message is sent to the machine X (using sockets).
The multimap will have a method that will return the count of messages in last five minutes.
Once we get the count the map can be freed.

I like this idea. Since multimap (in c++,supported by red-black tree with order), we can rewrite the compare function so that it's easy to last nth data.

Question: is there anything we can do to optimize fetch last five minutes data quickly?

MinHeap ,if it is full exract min and put latest log message there. Or maybe we can adjust Splay tree to this purpose.
