Basic advertisement testing can write as below,

all these are front End Testing:

is displaying correct dimension ?
Is it varying based on the Geo Location ?
Is the advertisemetn loading faster ?
is advertisement corner showing ads by google or not
Is advertisement matching to the content on the page or not?
is adv blended in the page colors or not ?
is adv loading faster in the site or not ?
is adv is landing on correct page ?
is adv showing at desribed location on the page or not ?
Is page refresh displaying different ads or not?

Back end Testing
calculating Click count from single IP?
How much time user spent on opened advertiser site
how many time advertisement displayed
is every click and display deducting correct amount from advertiser or not?
etc...

> Color, font, dynamic changes, positioning, pane bordering
> Display based on various resolutions
> Display based on various machine configurations, Operating systems
> Display based on 32/64 bit machines
> Display based on screen resizing
> Display in different languages (if localized)
> Display based on the content in advertisement, i.e. image, text, both, dynamically changing etc
> Display of links on text, advertisement as links etc.
> Display in various browsers
> Display on Mobile devices, handheld devices
> Advertisement changing with each refresh, each search, or each action that user performs

Functionality
> Fixed, or keyword based relevancy
> Advertisement configurable from settings
> Expandable/Collapsable areas

1) check when you are not logged in
2) if logged in it should change as per the things you have clicked on
3) switch gmail accounts,, advertisements should change
4) try in different browsers
5) try sites of various regions
6) click on various shopping sites and check if advertiesment are changing accordingly

1. Login with google account.
2. Store the things which user is searching.
3. Store the clicks (things) on which user is clicking
4. Get the user activity in other tabs of browsers.
5. access and get the information from user email, groups ect.
6. get the request from user for advertisement.
These steps are following the procedure of google standard what google do.

1. Browser compatibility testing
2. Localization testing
3. If it contains video file, will play correctly
4. UI testing (Look and feel, Location in page, how long it should appear, relevant to the page or not, taking into correct ad site or not, system resolution, change in rotation).
5. Functionality testing.
