Sometime we think something is senseless but actually not and sometime we think something is senseless and in actual it is senseless
in both case ask client to send a mail CCing your manager. That's all.
We can show the correct way to customer... if he/she is not agree.... no one can help on this.
customer is the BOSS
Explain user that the change requested by him/her doesn’t improve application performance or functionality and suggest alternatives to the problem which user referred to. Convince user that we would take his/her change after consulting with all stakeholder of the application.
