Creating Hierarchical data and writing a query to fetch the results?

I would start with breaking down the problem into small features. So I would ask can we break down features of the unix file system and put in appropriate priority order we can/need to work on. This would be my starting answering. If Interviewer gives me first take to pick one feature than I would say first we need to think about basic schema structure. I will think of creating some type of hierarchical data structure that allows me to
write function for all the dir related features/operations.
