So, Ans is 3 pizzas in 3 days... Let me explain with an example, 2 horses run 19km in 1 hour... then 10 horses run __57__ km in 3 hours... whether its 2 or 10, it doesn't matter..
54. Consider This:
1.5 people->1.5 pizzas->1.5 days
1.5 people->3pizzas->3 days
1 person->2 pizzas->3 days
1 person->6 pizzas->9 days
9 persons->54 pizzas->9 days
Hope it was clear and satisfactory. :)
yeah so here it is ..the question says one and a half teenagers eat one and a half pizza in one and a half days. so the total number of pizza given for the one and a half teenager is 1 1/2=3/2. since there is no such thing as a half a teenager we give equal number of the half pizza to the 2 teenagers that is 3/4 each. now if there are 9 teenagers totally then they can eat 9*3/4=27/4. this is in one and a half days. in 3 days it is 27/4 +27/4= 54/4=13.5 pizzas . so 9 teenagers can eat 13.5 pizza in 3 days.
you cannot divide everything by a common factor because there are 3 (odd number of) variables. f.e. when TEENS go UP, PIZZAS remain CONSTANT -> DAYS go DOWN. you can divide only two at a time which would give a ratio of F.E. 1 : 1 : 1.5 rather than 1 : 1 : 1.
having the ratio 1 : 1 : 1.5 multiplied by 9 teens (leaving the pizzas constant for now) would give 9 : 1 : 1.5/9. Now times 18 (to get 3 days) we would get 9 : 18 : 3. this is a clumsy solution but just to show the dividing mistake
This is just a basic unit analysis question.
How many pizzas can 1 teenager eat in 1 day?
1.5 pizzas / (1.5 teenagers * 1.5 days) = 1/1.5 = 2/3 (pizzas/(teenagers* days)).
So each teenager can eat 2/3rds of a pizza in 1 day.
But we have 9 teenagers and 3 days so ...
2/3 (pizzas/(teenagers*days)) * 9 teenagers * 3 days = 18

Give them more time, they eat more pizzas.

The time was double (3 days / 1.5 days) and the people was 6x times more (9 / 1.5), thus the number of pizzas should be 2 * 6 times more. That is: 1.5 pizzas * 2 * 6 = 18
Answer: 18 pizzas
