it is static function not variable. static function defined with the class means it is associated with the class,thus no object creation is needed to call the function.

when u declare any var. as static
1. it's scope of the var is in holl file(globel).
2. initialised t0 zero.
3. only one time decleration works...

Static function in context of c language means that function can only be called by other functions defined within the same file. In short static key word limits the scope of a function to the same file.

One more thing a static function can be called by other static member functions of the class only.

And the static function can be directly called as follows:
Class Name:: Static Function name
