JDK is for developers to write their programs. once the source is written and compiled successfully by the developers, we move on to the next phase, which is the execution phase. The human can be removed out of the loop, you can write an automated script as a cron job to execute the program using the specific version of jre. The jre contains the JVM and understands how to read the class file and will do exactly what's written in its rule book. so yeah the humans decided to write the code once(however you have complete freedom to rewrite the code n number of times) and it can run in any hardware(unix, windows, macos etc). All three are in constant state of flux. I'm wondering how the JDK, JRE and JVM are written ?
