ChromeDriver works as RemoteWebDriver in Server Mode while Firefox is RemoteWebDriver in Client Mode.

ChromeDriver talks to a binary which intern talks to the Chrome Browser. The binary has the capability the automate Chrome Browser

I believe chromedriver works similar as firefox.
System.setProperty("webdriver.chrome.driver", "/path/to/chromedriver");
Firefox default binary is assumed to be at similar location as of your OS windows.
For chrome we need to set but if its at default location the setproperty is optional.

firefox driver is already present as the default selenium package. Hence, you dont need to provide the path explicitly. And yes, chrome and firefox drivers work in the same way!

There is no concept of client mode / server mode as provided above.
