- 0 Answers designing DTDs and writing XQueries
You are given the following specication: Each part is a simple part or a composite part. A simple part has a name and a price. A composite part has a name and contains a number of component subparts, which are simple or composite. The subparts of a component subpart x of y are also (recursively) subparts of y. You can assume that the part names are unique.
- John Bishop March 13, 2014
To do:
Design a DTD D1 reflecting the hierarchical structure of this specication.
Debug the DTD using an online XML validation tool. Document the results.
Write an XQuery query that returns the names of all the subparts of each part whose name contains "wheel."
Write an XQuery query that returns the names of the complex parts that have no simple subpart that costs over $100.
Dene an XQuery function that, given the name of a part, calculates its total cost (the sum of the costs of its simple subparts).
Design a relational-like DTD D2 for the specication. That is, part/subpart relationship and part price should be viewed as relations and represented using some XML encoding of relations.
Write an XQuery mediator query M12 that maps documents valid under D1 into documents valid under D2.
Run the mediator M12 on an example database given separately. Use an available online XQuery system. Document the results.| Flag | PURGE - 0 Answers logic program for stratified datalog
Assume a directed graph is represented as a set of facts of the form node(x) for a node x, and edge(x; y) for an edge (x; y). A node x is red if there is a fact red(x). If possible, formulate the following queries in Datalog. If this is not possible, explain why, and formulate the query in Stratied Datalog not, proving that the resulting program is stratied. The programs can share rules but you have to clearly indicate which rules belong to which program.
- John Bishop March 13, 2014
Write a logic program P1 that returns the nodes x such that there is a path from x to a red node.
Write a logic program P2 that returns the pairs (x; y) such that there is a path from x to y that does not include a red node.
Write a logic program P3 that returns the pairs (x; y) such that every path from x to y includes a red node.
Construct a graph G such that P2 and P3 return at least one answer each.
Run P2 and P3 on the set of facts representing G, using xsb. Document the runs.| Flag | PURGE - 0 Answers Javascript

Hi all,
- Anonymous March 11, 2014
I had my onsite interviews with Google in Mountain View a week ago, but until now I have not yet heard back. (My interviews were on Monday last week, and it is Tuesday now.) I was just wondering if I should send the recruiter a follow-up email. How long does it typically take to get a response or be informed of the decision?
Thanks.| Flag | PURGE - 3 Answers Amazon said they liked me but the position is no longer open and asked me to wait?
I went through all phone interviews and an onsite interview with Amazon in Irvine office a few weeks ago. The recruiter called me and said they really liked and wanted to work with me, but the position I originally applied is no longer open. He asked me if I wanted to go to Seattle; if so, he could transfer my case to Seattle and see if there is a match. I said I wanted to stay in southern California. He then said I would need to wait for the next open position with the same level and asked me to check back in in a month. I asked how long is the estimated wait. He responded that he couldn't give me a fixed time, but given the growth of Amazon in Irvine, it takes about 30 or 60 days. Then he emphasized that this is not a bad news as in we reject you, and that they do like me and want to work with me, it's just the position is not open anymore and ask me to check in with him in a month.
- Guy March 11, 2014
So what are my chances now? He didn't guarantee anything. My friends say I should have a very good chance. When I did the onsite interview, all interviewers were from different team. So I didn't interview with a specific team. Should I continue looking? But actively interviewing is very tiring and time-consuming. If my chances are good, I really want to just wait a month or two.| Flag | PURGE - 5 Answers Yahoo Interview

Hi,
- ravikisan82 March 04, 2014
In an interview, asked to return list of all the tags that contain a label. So, I am given a html page and function has argument labelToFind , which return all the tags that contain that label. How should I do that?
I thought of storing the complete html page as tree structure and then I can do it. But I am not allowed to use external library and I am not very sure how to correctly parse html in java and store it?
Thanks

You have to pick out K random elements (K<=N).
{Say you have to place the K elements in another array R[1...K]}
How would you do this?
Does your method involve trampling the original array? Does it matter?

Hi Guys,

I am an SDET at Microsoft. My team is shifting focus from the traditional SDET job definition to something that would result in less coding and more manual testing and data analysis. I have always enjoyed the coding aspect of my job and now I've decided to make a move to a position where I can continue to do that. My goal is to move to a developer position. What I mean by that is something that is coding intensive than what I would do in the future in this team.
I am interviewing internally at MS for developer positions and I applied at Google for an SET position as well. I was offered the TE(Test Engineer) position instead of the SET position. Now here within MS, I am pretty sure I will get into a developer position somewhere or the other if I keep trying even though I do not have a lot of hardcore dev experience. I want to move to a dev position because I want to grow in my career as a developer and not "try" other stuff anymore.
Google told me that if I take up SET and SWE projects as a part of my work and display proficiency, I would be able to switch to those disciplines in 18 months or 2 years.
My question is, do you think it's worth going to Google as a TE and spending all that time just to reach a stage where I would be eligible for consideration to move to an SET/SWE position or do you think I should just grab an MS dev role if I get it and jump into it and put all the hard work into that? What are the pros and cons of taking either of these steps?
I would really appreciate some help deciding here. And please ask me any questions that would help you help me. Again, I am not a person with a hardcore dev background, but I am smart, hard working and rarely make the same mistakes twice. So, I think I can learn and grow in any position. But I'd also appreciate you giving it to me straight.
Thanks!

Please help me out on this, I have been breakin my head over this for weeks together.
I have a Class called InformationArea.java which displays an information area to the user. There a label called "enter a unique name" in the infomation area(basically an import dialog window). When I hover the mouse over that label there is a empty tooltip being displayed. I would want to remove that tooltip(I mean I dont want it to be shown). I can easily say tooltip.setVisibility(false) but I should not change the code inside the MouseTrackListener Anonymous class. I need to use a toltip property pr anythin else so that when I extend this class I need to have an option to easily set the visibility of this tooltip if needed or disable it if not needed.
Here is my Code snippet (JAVA SWT)
tooltip = new ToolTip(parent.getShell(), SWT.NONE);
MouseTrackListener mouseTrackListener = new MouseTrackListener() {
@Override
public void mouseEnter(MouseEvent e) {
if (text != null && !text.isEmpty()) {
tooltip.setLocation(Display.getCurrent().getCursorLocation().x,
Display.getCurrent().getCursorLocation().y + TOOLTIP_OFFSET_Y);
tooltip.setVisible(true);
}
}
@Override
public void mouseExit(MouseEvent e) {
if (text != null && !text.isEmpty()) {
tooltip.setVisible(false);
}
}
@Override
public void mouseHover(MouseEvent e) {
{
}};
label.addMouseTrackListener(mouseTrackListener);
iconLabel.addMouseTrackListener(mouseTrackListener);
I want an option such that the tooltip can be built or destroyed when ever needed in the derived class without changin the code in the MouseTrackListener| Flag | PURGE - 0 Answers What are infrastructure tools??
