main problem is the shape is not regular but in the link the shape is rectangular. But according to the problem the shape is not regular!!

t is always true that a symmetrical shape will enclose the greatest area for a given
perimeter.

So we end up with a polygon of an infinite number of sides, which is a circle.
So we need to cut the sheets in form of circle to min the wastage...

Dynamic programming is the right way to solve this problem... but i guess this is an np complete problem...

What is the intent of cutting the shapes? If the intent is to stick it onto the shapes, would it be better to just melt the gold and dip the shapes in the liquid? This would be the most minimal wastage of gold. Totally non cs solution....please pardon me.

However u may cut it the area of the remaining plate remains same which is scrap. So it does not matter.
