idea's answer is correct for range containing +ve as well as -ve number equally distributed...Mike C's answer is correct too.
I don't understand WTF amazon people ask such kinda of dumb questions...Oh Jesus!!!

well i think the question says dat 8 bits are given..eg 11001111....now using these 8 bits, the range is 2 be decided..now there can be 2 types of ranges..1 for all +ves n 1 including -ve nos also..

Range will be from -128 to 127
general rule for n bits is--> from -2^(n-1) to (2^(n-1))-1

Range could also be 0 to 255 if you only choose unsigned integers
In this case, from 0 to (2^n)-1
