Microsoft Interview Question for Software Engineer / Developers

Some details are missing I believe.

You have to pay the worker at the end of each day and he might leave work at the end of the day.

the "standard" answer is: two splits giving 1,2,4.

day 1) give 1
day 2) give 2, take 1 back
day 3) give back 1.
day 4) take back 1 & 2 and give 4.
etc.

The story of the puzzle is quite silly, though the underlying puzzle itself is nice.

This question has become sort of standard in most of the interviews...and yes the answer is just cut/split at 1, 2 n 4....thats it...

Make 2 breaks after link 1 and link 3 ( pieces of 1,2, 4 rings ).
