BAN USER- 7 Answers Maternity leave
Hi everyone! My question is regarding the indication of maternity leave in the resume. What is the best way to display - under latest employer's section or as a specific item? Or should I even do this?

It seems to me that it should be there but I don't want to focus the attention on it because I already had 2 interviews and got the same question twice: "Do you remember anything about programming?". Such questions are dissapointing me as I have almost 7 years of experience - how can I forgot all this?| Flag | PURGE

public static String maxUniqueSubstring(String str) {
HashMap<Character, Integer> chars = new HashMap<>();
for (int i = 0; i < str.length(); i++) {
if (chars.containsKey(str.charAt(i))) {
int k = (i > str.length() - chars.get(str.charAt(i)) ? i : chars.get(str.charAt(i)) + 1);
String s0 = maxUniqueSubstring(str.substring(0, k));
String s1 = maxUniqueSubstring(str.substring(k));
return (s0.length() < s1.length() ? s1 : s0);
}
chars.put(str.charAt(i), i);
}
return str;
}
Obviously, this question is to identify how you would solve the problem which has not enough data to start. The interviewer expects you to start asking questions about the technology and the bug itself to resolve ambiguity. I would start from the following:
1) When speaking about technology, does it mean I have application written in that technology? If yes, is this application desktop or web? In which part of the application is the bug? ETC.
2) When said "solve a bug", it meant to fix it or to develop a test-case to find it and document? ETC.
Every next question is based on what the interviewer already replied to you. Usually after 10-12 questions you asked you will be stopped because it would be clear how smart you are in getting data you need for work. :)
Gayle, many thanks for your opinion!
As long as I am a DBA, my previous experience mostly involves work with large production database systems which I can hardly represent in minor projects that developers usually design in their own time. Anyway, I'll try to do something interesting.
P.S. Your book "The Google Resume" is great! You've done a good job and it really helps to prepare for the job interview in all aspects. I used it as a guide and feel that my resume now looks somehow unique. I am looking forward to read your other books!
Hi Gayle, thanks for replying! I am now 1 year and 8 months off and seems to start working when my daughter will be 2 years because we recently moved to US from another country and I have to spent some time to settle in here. Anyway, during my maternity leave I read news and some books to stay updated about the changes happen in technologies and also planning to get new MS certificate in database administration (I already have MCDBA) before I start working. I tried to find some freelance job while on leave but was unable to.
